Advocacy: Evidence Based Clinical Policy and Guidelines Implementation at State Medical Colleges

The Director of Medical Education, Assam has issued 'Policy for Prudent use of Antimicrobial Drugs', 2010 vide Memo No. DME/223/2009/17596-600 dated 12/11/10 to the Principals of all the Medical Colleges of Assam requiring them to implement the Policy within two months. The government notification duly acknowledged the contribution and studies conducted by North East Clinical Excellence Foundation [See the notification attached DME-223-2009-17596-600].
This is the first ever Clinical Governance Policy/Procedure issued by the Medical Education Directorate. We will keep ourselves heavily engaged with the government and the medical colleges to see that Clinical Governance gets embedded in the day to day practice.

The Director of Medical Education, Assam has sent proposal to Health Department, Government of Assam, for local production Alcohol based Hand-rub using the WHO recommended formulation for use in the Medical College Hospitals of the state vide Memo No. DME/223/2009/17799-803 dated 22/11/10. The government notification duly acknowledged the contribution of North East Clinical Excellence Foundation in facilitating the process [See the notification attached DME-223-2009-17799-803]. We will keep working in the filed of 'Patient Safety' starting with the hand hygiene and healthcare associated infections.
